MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The actions of quick-thinking Eden Prairie homeowner led to the arrest of three suspected thieves Tuesday, according to a release from the city.
The city said a homeowner on 9000 block of Belmont Lane saw someone attempt to enter his car shortly before 5:50 a.m. The homeowner was on his way to work and had opened his garage door when he realized he had forgotten something inside his home. When he returned to his garage, however, he saw someone trying to get into his car.
The suspect fled the man’s garage and entered a car with two others inside. The homeowner quickly noted a complete description of the suspect, got the car’s license plate and called police.
With the information provided by the homeowner, police found the car, the city says, and were able to arrest the three suspects for burglary, controlled substance possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Inspection of the car also showed that the suspects may have been in possession of other stolen objects. Police are currently investigating whether or not those objects came from other burglaries.
The names of the homeowner and the suspects were not given.
Eden Prairie Police commended the homeowner on his quick thinking, the city said.
