MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two St. Paul men were indicted Tuesday in federal court for conspiring to distribute 50 or more grams of methamphetamine, according to the Department of Justice.
Twenty-two-year-old Jesus Giovanni Gaxiola-Guevara and 28-year-old Martin Fidencio Gutierrez-Alarcon face one count of conspiring to distribute 50 grams of meth and one count of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams of meth, the department said. If convicted, the two could receive a maximum sentence of life in prison on each count.
According to the department, the two conspired to distribute the meth between February 2012 and May 16, 2012. The indictment also alleges that Gaxiola-Guevara conspired to distribute 50 or more grams of meth on May 15 and that Fidencio Gutierrez-Alarcon conspired to distribute the same amount of meth on May 16.
On May 15, Fergus Falls police pulled over Gaxiola-Guevara on a traffic violation, according to affidavits filed in the case. During a consented search of his car, police found about $74,000 in a box in the back seat. In a search on his house on the same day, police found two handguns, two pounds of meth, two digital scales, money transfer receipts and drug notes.
On the following day (May 16) police searched Gutierrez-Alarcon’s house, where officers found a pound of meth in a red cooler in his basement, three digital scales and about 10 grams of meth in his bedroom, according to affidavits.
